Transitioning to School
Starting School will be one of the 'big milestones' in a child's life. At Lawrence area School our aim is to provide you with information and ideas that will help both you and your child make a smooth and successful transition into school life.
Your child will begin school visits approximately six weeks before they are due to start school. These visits are designed to make the transition to school a smoother process for your child. Our school visit programme provides opportunities for children to be involved in a variety of experiences so they know what being at school is like.
I will ring you prior to your child's first school visit to arrange a meeting either in the classroom or simply on the phone. This will give you the opportunities to discuss your child's strengths, weaknesses, interests and dislikes. We will discuss possible school visit dates and times as this can vary for each child.
Your child will bring home an information brochure about the routines and activities in Room One and also important information about Lawrence Area School.
